Become a Mentor

Help Create Pathways for Others

Mentorship begins with understanding.

2Wanda is developing a community of mentors who are committed to supporting individuals, families, and communities navigating behavioral health, DDD, DCS, child care, and other human service systems.

Mentors are not expected to have all the answers.

Mentors are developed to understand people, recognize behavior as information, support growth, and help others identify their next responsible step.

The Purpose of Mentorship

The purpose of mentorship is to develop individuals who can walk alongside others with understanding, compassion, accountability, and purpose. A mentor is someone who listens before responding, seeks understanding before judgment, recognizes individual experiences and needs, helps others identify resources and pathways, supports growth, confidence, and personal development, and encourages individuals and families through their journey.

Who May Be Interested in Becoming a Mentor?

Individuals interested in becoming mentors may include community members, caregivers, direct-care professionals, behavioral-health professionals, child care professionals, individuals with lived experience navigating human service systems, and people who want to support children, families, and communities. A desire to serve, learn, and grow is the beginning.
